Shabad Kirtan-1st August 2022

Number of Participants: 41 (20 males, 21 female)

Objectives:

  1. To share the spiritual knowledge and positive effects of Gurbani
  2. Enhance the impact of gurbani recital and offer a multisensory experience.
  3. Understand the religious significance of Gurbani and its benefits on the mind and body

Report: The Punjabi Association organised a Shabad Kirtan Session where all the participants were expected to present in traditional attire and attend the session. The session started with playing Mool Mantra - EK ONKAR, where all the participants were enjoying it at peace. After finishing the mool mantra and praying, Sukhpreet Kaur Lamba (SYBAMMC student) came up and gave an insight about Guru Nanak Dev and also about many other things of Punjabi culture. The HOD of the BAMMC department, Dr. Sangeeta Makkad also gave few insights on the kirtan and shabads that were played in the session later. Towards the end of the session, all participants and faculty including principal Dr. Neelam Arora were given ‘kada - prasad’.

Outcome:

  1. Students had an understanding of the deeper meaning of Shabad Kirtan.
  2. Students got to experience the calming effects of kirtan.
  3. Students had a better understanding of Punjabi culture.
