Sankalp 2k21 - 19th & 20th March 2021



National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Lala Lajpat Rai College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai in collaboration with NSS Cell, University of Mumbai organized a University Level, inter-collegiate socio-cultural fest “Sankalp” based on the theme “Warsa" Tribal Colors of India.

"Warsa" Tribal Colors of India.... aims to create awareness among the youth about the rich cultural heritage of Tribal communities, their way of life, their Socio-economic status, closeness to nature, their problems, and possible solutions with an emphasis on the Role of today's Youth in contributing towards the preservation of tribal culture and upliftment of the communities

Sankalp 2020 was not a prototype intercollegiate event having various competitions. Rather, it was an inter-collegiate socio-cultural fest organized to engage the youth in a dialogue on the "Social-Illusion" of the people through various informative sessions followed by theme-based Creative Performances.  

 

Contingent leader 

The CL meet for the fest was held on 11th March 2021 at 530 pm on the zoom platform, for which --- units of different colleges showed up.

 

DAY 1:  19th March 2021, Friday   

We started our fest with an inaugural session by Master Pushkar Kalamdhar, “reviewing the right of tribal in India through a young lens”, His golden words inspired us and encouraged the students.

Under Sankalp, 2021 we had various competitions at an inter-collegiate level. 215 NSS volunteers from more than 50 different colleges enthusiastically participated in the competition.

The competitions were as follows:

  • Poster making- HOD: Gauri and Gargi 
  • Rangoli making - HOD: Mayuri and Sanika 
  • Poetry making - HOD: Omkar and Joyal
  • Tribal handicraft (best out of waste) - HOD: Vivek and Mishab
  • Tribal art - HOD: Kanishka and Vikas
  • Tribal costume  HOD: Bhavya and Prachi 
  • Solo dance (tribal dance) - HOD: Trupti and Vedant.

 

We ended the day after all the competitions were over, and the winners were announced on day 2. 

 

DAY 2: 20th March 2021, Saturday 

Sankalp 2021 was organized in collaboration with the University Of Mumbai and media partner  Daily Pudhari. 215 N.S.S. Volunteers from different colleges in Mumbai District participated in the event and more than 500 attended the event. The Chief Guest for the event was Dr. Rajendra Bharud, district collector  I.A.S Nandurbar. The Guest of Honor was Mr. Devaji T of a Mendha (Lekha), District: Gadchiroli. Mr. Jayant Dhulap, edition in charge, daily Pudhari, and Mrs. Surekhatai Dalvi, a social activist were special invitees. Dr. Satish Kolte, District Co-ordinator N.S.S. Unit Cell, Mumbai City was also present at the event. Sri Sudhir Puranik also graced us with his presence.  The winners were as follows: 

The overall trophy for Sankalp was given to R. A. Podar College with Sheth N.K.T.T College as first runner-up and Siddhart College of art science and commerce and K.P.B Hinduja College of commerce as second runner-up.
